The Country Life For Him

Sales of Dyson vacuums, hair dryers, air stylers, and, I think, lights now? support a lovely lifestyle. Yesterday’s walk took us through Dodington Park Estate (the green line in the picture below), which is owned by Sir James Dyson.

Absolutely gorgeous and incredibly well maintained. As we entered from the north, we saw the estate’s driveway, but otherwise just serene green, content sheep, and a pheasant.

We made record time on the 9 mile walk to Cold Ashton, mostly because there were so few hills, and were fortunate because, though we woke up to our first rainy day, the rain stopped as we went outside to walk.

We slugged through some wet fields and sloshed in wet socks for the last 4 miles. All that did was make us appreciate the weather we’ve had. Gardeners are eager for rain; us walkers revel in the need for sunscreen.

Cold Ashton is a lovely, quite small village. Our innkeeper, Jonathan, drove us to a nearby pub for dinner.

And here we are, on a sunny Thursday morning, about to tackle the last leg of a quite satisfying country walk through a beautiful countryside with welcoming people.

Onward to Bath! Thanks for coming along with us. The next portion of our story will be as 💯 tourists, likely walking fewer than 25,000 steps a day. 😀
