Broadway bound!

Our trek has officially begin, with an easy 6-miler to the popular town of Broadway, punctuated with a stop at Broadway Tower and its brilliant vista views. I’m loving the way Brits speak, in subtly different ways from Colonials (how we’ve been referred to twice) vernacular. Brilliant is a great word, and a woman yesterday referred to her friend as a “bright spark.” So good.

As we left Chipping Campden, we walked at eye level by homes on High St and noticed that many of the houses have little tchotchkes - one had a flower - in the window. Ignore the dead flies.

April showers really do bring May flowers.

After spending most of our time in fields and passing through some shaded areas, Broadway Tower appeared. Built in 1799 as a treat for the wife of the 6th Earl of Coventry, it sits at the second highest point of the Cotswolds. It’s a fun spot to visit and we highly recommend their cafe for lunch.

Five minutes after we started our 1.25 mile descent to town and our room at The Lodge, it began to rain. No photos - the phone battery gave out.

But Bill wondered aloud about proper protocol when one is walking through a field carrying metal hiking poles during a lightning storm.
